PICMET’21 관련하여 아래와 같이 안내 드립니다.

관심있는 분들의 많은 참여 부탁드립니다.

We are pleased to announce that PICMET’21 (Portland International Center for Management of Engineering and Technology) Conference will be held in Daejeon City, South Korea on August 8-12, 2021. Daejeon is about 2 hours from Seoul’s Inchon Airport by car or airport limousine bus, and is frequently referred to as the Silicon Valley of Korea.

The theme of the Conference is Technology Management and Leadership in Digital Transformation. The abstracts and papers submitted to PICMET’20 have already been transferred to PICMET’21.

Deadline for the submission of up-to 200-word new abstracts is June 30, 2020. Online submissions can be made at www.picmet.org.

The focus of PICMET’21 is on the leadership challenges in managing technology to address critical issues that the world is facing, including those that we are experiencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of them are listed below:

Ø  Climate change is an extremely serious issue, worldwide.

Ø  Job creation and job loss are both an opportunity and a challenge.

Ø  The gap between technologically advanced nations and technology-poor nations is growing rapidly.

Ø  The trend toward globalization seems to be reversing itself due to political considerations.

Ø  Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Analytics and Data Science are starting to have a major impact on our lives.

Ø  Evaluation of healthcare/public health systems at local, regional, national and international levels is gaining critical importance.

Ø  We are seeing the conversion of manufacturing systems in many industries (automotive, high tech, garment industry, etc.) to produce medical and personal protective equipment in response to worldwide health crises.

Ø  Supply chains are being redesigned to respond to the emergency needs.

Ø  Remote teaching is having a major impact on education.

Ø  Virtual meetings and appointments are becoming a part of our lives.

Ø  We are re-thinking outsourcing strategies in view of the critical importance of the control of manufacturing, supply chain, inventories, etc. during a crisis.

The challenge for the Technology Management community is to provide leadership in managing technology to address these issues and to make technology part of the solution, not the problem. We can do this only by managing technical, economic, social, political, environmental, legal and ethical systems simultaneously.

That is the focus of PICMET'21 Conference, but the papers will not be limited to this focus. There will be Research Papers and Industry Applications on every aspect of technology management.

We look forward to receiving your abstract(s) by June 30, 2020, and hope seeing you at PICMET’21 in Korea on August 8-12, 2021.
